The characters are just so life-like and colourful that you'll never forget them. I fell in love with the Percy Jackson series for their humour and vivid descriptions, and this was increased ten fold in the Heros of Olympus series. I've always loved Greek Mythology which was what initially drew me to his books. I'm assuming anyone picking up this book is already familiar with the world of Greek Gods and their half-blood offspring that Rick Riordan portrays so brilliantly. If I hadn't had to stop for small necessities like eating and sleeping I would have. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? It says a lot for this book that it carry's itself no matter who reads it. He's not the best reader, particularly when compared with Joshua Swanson who read the earlier books in this series, but I find the voices he does amusing. What about Nick Chamian’s performance did you like? The only other two Authors that spring to mind are JK Rowling and Michael Buckley. It's not anyone who can write a long series and produce books that are of the same standard throughout. So I'll compare this to Rick Riordan's other books and say that it more than measures up.

I hate comparing books as every Author deserves recognition in their own right. What other book might you compare The Blood of Olympus to, and why? It's a rare book that can educate and entertain you at the same time and Rick Riordan's imagination is just a pleasure to listen to. I re-read books I love over and over again and this makes the cut. Would you listen to The Blood of Olympus again? Why? The mythologies are accurate, for kids who don't know their greek and roman mythology (and egyptian with the kane chronicles), these are a fun introduction to them. If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?ĭon't make a film of any more Rick Riordan books, the disaster that was lightning thief was enough to put me off watching any more!! Too many to choose from, Riordan writes some really good characters. I'm saying nothing about the story itself because I don't like spoilers, but from the previous four books you just know it's gonna be good. The Percy Jackson series got me hooked, and this series has continued to keep me interested enough to pre-order book five. Okay I'm not the traditional audience for Rick Riordan's books, I'm an adult who just happens to read a lot, and has a soft spot for fantasy and mythology.
